Motivation
How does one find motivation to write? I know it doesn’t always come. My life has ups and downs like everyone. I was on a roll with my writing and then life got in the way. I became so busy that there was no time to write. That was just a week though. After that, time had returned for me. I just couldn’t get motivated to finish writing chapter seven.
I’d open the document, re-read to familiarize myself, do a few edits and lose momentum when I needed it. That last line stared at me for a good month. I just wasn’t in the mood I told myself. Who is though? I needed to whip myself into shape. I read some books, critiqued people’s work. I still couldn’t make myself work on my own writing.
Frustration started to grow and I even thought about starting something new. Fear of never finishing this novel stopped me though. I did write a flash piece to get my juices flowing. Turns out I had no clue how to do that. I thought I did though. Silly me. What I learned though, was how to write flash. Can I do it? I’ll have to figure it out. I will be re-doing the piece I wrote, with the hope that I can fix the issues. The lovely people on Scribophile helped me out once again. I would be no where without them.
I fear I’ve gotten off track though. The main point of this post was to tell you that I did it. My motivation is back. I finally finished chapter seven and I’m chewing on the bit to get to chapter eight. Go me! Until next time. I hope you find your motivation.
